The basics

What is hydro jetting?

Hydro jetting (also called water jetting or drain jetting) uses a high-pressure hose and specialized nozzle to push water through your pipe at up to about 4,000 PSI for homes — and higher for heavy commercial lines. The water scours the entire interior of the pipe, flushing out grease, roots, scale and sludge. A drain snake only punches a hole through the clog; jetting cleans the whole pipe wall, which is why results last far longer.

How it works

Our hydro jetting process

  1. Camera inspection. We scope the line first to find buildup and confirm the pipe can be safely jetted.
  2. Insert the jetter. A high-pressure hose with the right nozzle goes in through a cleanout.
  3. Blast & flush. Forward jets cut the blockage; rear jets propel the hose and flush debris.
  4. Re-camera. We verify the pipe wall is clean end to end.
What it clears

Built for the tough stuff

  • Grease & FOG in kitchen lines
  • Tree roots in sewer laterals
  • Scale & mineral buildup — descaling cast iron
  • Sludge, sediment and compacted debris
  • Recurring clogs that return after snaking

Just a one-off clog? Standard drain cleaning may be all you need. Roots damaging the pipe? That's sewer line repair.

Commercial

Restaurant & commercial jetting

Grease-heavy kitchen lines need more than a snake. We jet grease traps and interceptors, kitchen lines, and commercial sewer mains — typically from the grease-trap outlet to the main — one-time or on a maintenance schedule to keep you flowing and FOG-compliant.

Why Portland lines need jetting

Mature tree roots, a lot of older clay and cast-iron pipe, and a long rainy season all drive grease and root buildup. Jetting restores the pipe to full diameter — and because it's chemical-free, it won't corrode your pipes the way liquid drain cleaners do.

Talk to a plumber
What is hydro jetting?

High-pressure water — commonly up to ~4,000 PSI — that scours the entire inside of a pipe, removing grease, roots, scale and sludge and restoring full flow. Unlike a snake, which punches a hole, jetting cleans the whole pipe wall.

How much does hydro jetting cost in Portland?

Residential jetting typically runs about $300–$600 (Portland average ~$500), depending on clog severity, pipe length, and whether a camera inspection is included. You get an upfront, flat-rate price first.

Is hydro jetting safe for old pipes?

For structurally sound pipes, yes — safety depends on condition, not just age. We run a camera inspection first to confirm brittle or badly corroded clay or cast-iron pipe can handle it.

Hydro jetting vs snaking — which do I need?

A snake clears a single localized clog quickly; jetting removes buildup along the whole pipe and lasts longer. Choose jetting for grease, tree roots, scale, or clogs that keep coming back.

How long does hydro jetting last?

Generally one to two years for residential lines, longer with maintenance — versus roughly six to eighteen months for snaking.

Can hydro jetting remove tree roots?

Yes — root-cutting nozzles slice through intruding roots and flush them out, valuable in Portland's tree-heavy neighborhoods. We recommend a follow-up camera check.

Do you offer same-day or emergency hydro jetting?

Yes — same-day and 24/7 emergency hydro jetting across the Portland metro for backed-up homes and commercial lines.

Do you do commercial and restaurant grease-trap hydro jetting?

Yes — kitchen lines, grease traps and interceptors, and commercial sewer mains, typically from the grease-trap outlet to the main, one-time or scheduled.

Can I rent a hydro jetter and do it myself?

Consumer-grade rental jetters exist, but they run far lower pressure than professional equipment and can't clear roots or heavy scale. Used on old or already-cracked pipe, the wrong nozzle or pressure can also cause damage — we camera-inspect first so we know the line can handle it.
